It’s more complicated than that the problem i’m explaining here is pretty dense and layered. I know i’m not the only one with this issue, and I expect to find a few other people who might be having the same problem.
I have a consistent track record of going off topic, but i’ll try to remain as focused as possible.
My mom is 43, and i’m 19. she has, over time, built an absolutely atrocious youtube feed. It’s composed of three kinds of content, split into types A and B.
TYPE A – constitutes 70% of her feed. this is the problematic segment.
This consists of life vloggers, who have no real premise to their content. it’s just 15-30 minutes of whatever they do throughout the day. It’s amazing. Most don’t even leave the house. Many of these vloggers have made tons of videos with the intention of garnering sympathy. I kid you not, I’ve seen some 30-part series made just to explain (in vivid, emotional detail) how someone’s husband cheated on her, or how someone’s inlaws are the biggest pieces of shit ever and are making there life miserable. basically just whatever is wrong with their lives. That’s the entire premise of their channel. many of these have faced serious oppression, but that isn’t my point. Aur inki audience bhi inki lives me super invested hai. They treat the creator like family, or like a relative(my mom included). There’s literally channels i’ve seen go from 100k-200k subscribers to upwards of a million, still growing consistently.
Mujhe problem inke revenue se nahi hai. make and post whatever you want, youtube is a free platform. But i’m sick of my mom watching this junk all the damn time bro. I would’nt watch stuff like this in a million years, I already don’t use youtube very often. and thankfully i’m at college all day so i don’t have to tolerate much of it either. but god damn it’s hard. I cannot stand it.
Some vlogging channels aren’t as bad as the others. some are travel oriented, some are cooking oriented, but most are just apni problems ka rr. Sometimes mom will start telling me all about the life of this random vlogger she found today, and if i say “to mai kya karu? hai kon ye?” I get yelled at for being insensate or “insaniyat nahi hai mujh me” mummy insaniyat hai, dukh sabhi ke jeevan me hai. sare din baith ke yahi sab sunne se kya fayda? it’s just mental exhaustion.
There’s entire gossip-style channels, that are just women yapping about apne ya aur similar youtubers ke ghar ke kalesh, reacting and responding and shit. it’s amazing. actually amazing to see ki log kitne vele hai, to just sit and watch about lives of people. I don’t get it. it’s insane to me. maybe it’s because i find gossip stupid and i don’t partake in it at all.
There’s also news videos, mostly on small channels and mostly negative news, curated with fancy and emotional wordings. always about death, accidents and stuff. super stretched out and repetitive, the kind of journalism that relies on emotions of the viewers, you know the type.
My mom will randomly launch into telling me one of their stories. she’ll start with something like “unke ghar beta hua hai” ya “unki dadi ki death ho gayi” “unhone ne gadi le li” and i be like who? and instead of someone I know it’s some xyz vlogger from MP. WTF do i do with this information and why is my mom so obsessed with it???!?!?!?
TYPE B – the remaining segment. this is ok.
stuff like acharya prashant (I don’t always agree with him but he’s possibly the best channel on her feed). other good stuff includes cooking videos, folk music and bhajans, crocheting/ knitting content all mixed.
Mom’s avg youtube consumption per day is 5-6H. of which at best 2h is type b content.
another part of the equation is that if i ever try to call her out for this, even in the politest way possible, she refuses to accept the fact that she watches junk, and then flips the script and starts telling me how her social media consumption is so much superior than mine.
context: 2-3 times over the last 3 years, she checked my instagram, to find typical content that teenagers share. memes, most of them stupid, funny and some vulgar. So anytime i try to talk to her about this, she goes ballistic-angry and uses that card, telling me how her content is better than those memes, and basically calls me अभद्र
I usually don’t watch youtube on the TV, or at all, when home. But sometimes i’ll watch some automotive video: riding vlogs or car / bike reviews, stuff like Motorinc and carwow, yammie noob, fortnine etc and 100% of the time she will call me out by saying “pehle aukat to bana le, sapne aukat ke hisab se dekha kar.” AAAAAHHHHHHH
What the hell do i do. any solutions? Am i the only one with this problem?

This is long. Go to the conclusion for the main point if you wish.
Somehow over a decade I ended up with +30,000 images. I always wanted to sort and tag the most significant of them. More scary than that number is the landscape for file tagging applications.
I tried the new darling TagStudio, but to my horror it creates folders in your folders with .json junk instead of tucking away a proprietary database in a undisclosed Windows location (aka AppData/Roaming). No solution is good.
Ignoring those solutions I started using the awkward image sorting tools like Photosift. Those programs suck. They often assign a directory to a keyboard letter so if you have more categories than keyboard buttons you are out of luck and you have to memorize the key-folder combination.
I decided to write my own clumsy sorting tool just to get away from this. It just lists the folders inside a directory, adds to a list and I type the first letter of that list that is the destiny of the current pic. Unlimited categories, no memorization, etc.
Those programs either move or copy the original file. By copying you can have a same item that has multiple meanings in multiple folders, so the folders somewhat act as tags. This is still not perfect. You have multiple copies of the same file wasting disk space and one file is independent of the other copies.
Unless you use hard links! So I modified my sorting tool to do hard link operations. Now this approach somewhat works. But what are hard links?
Hard links are multiple points of entry to the same data on your disk. Unlike shortcuts they ‘behave’ like the ‘original’ file instead of the dreadful .ink files. Deduplication tools offer hard linking or synlinking options to save space in your disk without modifying file structures. That’s the main advantage of the same file existing in more than one place at the same time.
The result of this mad tagging is 30,000 images sorted into the 5,000 best ones which were then sorted into 150 categories. In this journey most images are ‘duplicated’ 3 to 5 times across multiple folders without wasting any disk space. The same can be done with folders as symbolic links so I plan to create folder categories, which are in a sense nested tags.
Advantages:
No sidecar files, intrusive folders, hidden databases or junk json files. The folder structure itself act as tags and containers for tags. Any program can interact and modify the structure. No extra disk space is needed.
Disadvantages:
A basic file browser can’t do complex operations like searching duplicates across multiple folders. So checking how many tags does a file have (where its copies are) or delete the same image from multiple folders is an inconvenience. The excellent Everything program can help on that but that’s still cumbersome to extract the filename and analyze paths. My file sorting program can view the tags for an image but not the images available for a given group of tags. Also every base file must have a distinct name across the whole folder structure. If you backup this without proper caution you are essentially creating a zip bomb.
Conclusion:
By abusing hard links and symlinks it’s possible to create a ‘clean’ tag system just using folders and duplicates but there is no application available to handle this unorthodox approach as a viable solution. The all-in-one solution should be able to create, observe and modify the folder structure without leaving garbage data as legacy but the folder structure itself.
If you want to try to do this yourself I recommend the following programs and using them in that order:
Link Shell Extension (LSE) – to visualize and creation of hard links and symlinks
Advanced Renamer – To give unique names to groups of files
Photosift – for sorting images across subfolders as copies
Alldup – for deduplication of files as hardlinks
Everything – for faster access to individual files

I (M50) have been married for over 23 years. However, I have never liked my MIL (F85) since day one. At one time, she sort of stayed with us to help take care of our children for almost 10 years. She would go back to her home on weekends when we are not working. I would still talk to her in the beginning but eventually I started to avoid talking to her. While she is not a bad person, I just cannot accept her behaviors. One of her behavior that I despise is her trying to be super nice to everyone else except her family members. She would always try to please (and impress) her friends and guest. One time a family came visiting during weekdays (where she will be in our home) and they have a toddler. She very excitedly ask my daughter (also toddler) to bring out her toys and let her play. I am totally fine with this. However, when they guests are leaving, she offered to give that toys to the guest toddler. They will play with the toys and when it’s time to leave, she would tell the guest toddler to take the toys home with her. She said will buy another one for my daughter. Thing is, she NEVER intent to buy her the toys back. When we question her, she would just say to pay us back the money which she NEVER does. For me, it’s not about the money or the toy. It’s her intention to give away my daughter’s toy to guests without thinking about the feelings of my daughter (who was upset losing a toy). She never had the intention to buy back the toy because she hadn’t the faintest idea where or how to get the toy from. This has happened a few times. Sometimes the guests would reject taking the toys as it’s not right to do such a thing. It’s not only toys but other things that even adult guests might like. Most of the times nothing expensive but like I said, it’s not about the price but the gesture of doing such a thing without thinking. Most of the times she would just say to deduct the money from her “salary”. We pay her monthly allowance. She would think we fuss about the value of the thing she gave away and not the inconveniences it caused us to replace the items or toys.
Another thing I dislike is she like to talk on the phone. She have tons of friends which stem from the love of chit-chatting. Sometimes she would call to another country and talked for like 30-40 minutes. Thankfully she know it cost a lot to call to another country hence shortening her conversations. Still, it cost use quite a lot of money which again we told her not to do often. And again, she would say will pay us back which she NEVER does.
Sometimes she will ask my wife for advance for her allowance because she is short of money. Two things she did with the allowance we gave her. One, she use it to buy lots of things and always like to give it away to friends. We never wanted anything from her, so she will not buy us anything which is fine. We are glad she doesn’t waste money on us. Second, she would invest the money into a money saving schemes among few of her friends. I am not sure what this scheme is called. A few friends would join together and put in 50 bucks each. One person would take the pool and do whatever he/she want. The next month, this person would return the pool money and they each add another 50 into the pool. Another person would take those money to spend or keep. It goes on until each person get their turn with the pool money. However, I don’t know how it ends as I never bother to find out. Sometimes when it’s her turn to return the pool money, she will have shortage. I don’t know where she spend all the money but yeah. This scheme is known to be a bad way of saving money because most of the times one of the member will run off with the money. MIL had this very bad experience before. When she was younger, she was so called the leader of this scheme. One of the member ran away with the pool money. Obvious the leader would need to pay back all the members. She didn’t have the money to pay back and she also ran away. She can never go back to her hometown because of this incident. She left her husband and children in the hometown to fend off the members asking for their money. I didn’t know how it ended but the point is, she never learn. She still does this scheme. I am sure sometimes someone could have ran away with the money but she would not dare to tell us.
There are other things that I dislike about her but too much to tell. All in all, I just slowly talk less and less to her. As of now, she is living in a old folks home and I barely talk to her. I only join my wife sometimes upon request by my wife to help her fix things like TV, AC, and so on. She knows I don’t talk to her so she don’t talk to me too.
The latest incident, she has a TV which had it’s remote missing. So I bought her a universal remote that works but she didn’t like it. Says she don’t know how to use that remote. She is very non-tech savvy. She don’t know how to use a smart phone. Only knows the old school phones with physical numbers. After I setup the remote, I told her to only use channel changer buttons and the volume buttons. That’s the two biggest buttons to use and don’t know why she said she don’t know how to use it. Obviously the red button is to turn on/off the TV which she has no problem using. Anyway, she gave away this remote to her neighbor who need it. So she only uses the physical on/off button on the TV to watch 1 channel. I don’t know what she pressed but the TV apparently is not working anymore. My SIL (another woman with massive issues) who live only 2km away sent someone to deliver a TV to her. The TV was just dump into her room (in the old folks home) without being setup. So the delivered TV is not used. SIL didn’t bother with her after sending the TV. MIL didn’t want to call her as SIL and MIL is in another feud of their own.
My wife ask me to go over to fix the TV but I am not TV repair man. I would probably end up buying her a new TV which I think she does not deserve. BTW, we still pay her a monthly allowance which she would spend on buying food and stuffs. She will get her “friends” to buy her things and then pay them extra money for their inconvenience. She also always requested my wife to buy her lots of things including junk food, household items and so on. I will end up going shopping with my wife to get those stuffs for her.
She has been using my wife as ATM machine to pay for her to stay at the old folks home. And the monthly allowance she pays her are not small figure too. She has two other children which does not pay anything. The 2km away daughter is staying at my MIL’s house for free. Does not do anything for her or contribute to her monthly allowance. While my MIL is not really a bad person, she have the kind of behaviors that is annoying me. Doing things without thinking and always want to look like best person to everyone. I would still go take a look at the TV situation but not going to talk to her.

i was on my 30th? 40th? 50th? successive failed day 1, and was in absolute tatters physically, mentally and financially
while the latter hasn’t improved and continues to give me anxiety, i’m sat here today, waiting for a few hours to pass so i can finally say i have been sober for a month!
thank you to all those who commented on my post that day and helped me break the cycle, i’m so grateful to this community for the genuineness and positivity it has to offer… this time, unlike my previous attempts at kicking the poison out of my life, i feel truly DONE with the massive net negative offered by the elixir of emptiness
i have been going to the gym more regularly, and have gone from a 25kg (55lbs) lat pulldown to a p.r. of 40kg (88lbs)!
some of the alcohol gut fat is persistent, and my scale hasn’t tipped as much as i have wanted it to… as a kind of naturally fit person to a degree, i am worried about it now as during my previous attempts at sobriety i lost weight pretty quickly. i’d love to hear thoughts on this from anyone who’s been through something similar.
i have spent about 50-60% of the past 2½ years in alcoholic binges, with psychiatric medicines (benzos and ssris, along with an antipsychotic) mixed with junk food in this gratification addiction. and fwiw, i just turned 30 recently.

Hey everyone, I’ve been addicted to opioids for about 10 years. I’ve only been clean once in that time, and it only lasted 4 months before I relapsed. I feel dumb; I should have stayed clean. It took me about 60 days to feel anywhere near normal when I kicked oxy, hydro, kratom, and Suboxone. I did it without any meds. I was so strong; I can’t believe it. After that, when I tried to get clean again, I failed over and over.
So, I’m a bit of a nerd, and I started researching like crazy. I found a lot of remedies people use to assist in their recovery. Well, I got a hold of 90 300 mg gabapentin, 7 Xanax bars (which I don’t take regularly), 20 somas, magnesium supplements, 100% magnesium oil for my feet, a foot massager, Calm Support from Amazon, an ounce of marijuana, and lots of extremely potent THC edibles. I took my last dose of Roxy (180 mg) yesterday—hopefully for the last time. The high was nice; it was my final goodbye to good old blue Roxy (Oxycodone).
So, how should I approach this? Any advice is appreciated. I hope to stop using the help meds altogether after 2 weeks and then deal with the remaining withdrawal symptoms the old-fashioned way—raw and without anything. I’m so tired of having to take something every morning just to get out of bed. I’m tired of the yawning, teary eyes, sneezing, aches, and pains returning 6 hours later, and then having to take another dose and another for sleep. It’s too expensive, and I don’t even get high off 180 mg of oxycodone instant release anymore. I’ve reached the point of diminishing returns. It’s not worth the investment anymore.
It took a long time to gather all these comfort substances just to get through this, but thank God I got them all. Can you all tell me when I’ll start to feel somewhat normal again? Any tips you used to get off this junk? Please help. I just want my life back and to stop spending all my money on opioids. I want to be a great father to my kids and a good boyfriend to my girl, but opioids keep getting in the way. I’m almost 40, and I started at 30—enough is enough, man. I’m done. Please help and give me some tips. Thank you in advance.

Je suis un homme de 30 ans, j’ai arrêté les antidepresseurs depuis 4 mois, et depuis 1 mois, je commence à retomber dans la depression.
Mon image de moi se détériore, j’ai de moins en moins envie de faire des activités que j’aimais (lecture, jeux-video, course à pied, etc..), je n’ai pas envie de voir des gens, ni d’avoir des projets, je ressens plus de plaisir. Je n’aime plus allez dehors parce qu’il fait froid, et que c’est moche, et les gens sont inintéressant, etc..
Je vois tout négativement, je n’aime plus mon boulot, mes collègues, mes passions, etc…
Je lâche petit à petit tout les objectifs que j’avais, je remange de la junk food, je fais moins de sport, je scroll beaucoup, je me masturbes beaucoup trop, je prends de plus en plus de nicotine (j’essaye d’arrêter la cigarette), j’ai arrêté d’écrire mon journal intime, etc…
Bref, la dépression s’installe et me prends dans ses bras
J’avais pourtant mis plein de chose en place pour éviter ça, sport, alimentation saine, psychologue, sommeil, complément alimentaire, nouvelles activités, etc..
Je pense que je vais reprendre les antidépresseurs…

BEWARE BEWARE BEWARE, if there is anything wrong with your holster even if it’s their fault they WILL NOT stand behind their work or try and work with you at all!!! I have respectfully gone back and forth for months and they have gone completely silent, even now after I filed a Better Business Bureau complaint and written a negative review on Google I’ve heard nothing. Even after 30 days they have completely ignored the BBB complaint and the BBB has filed them as a bad company on their website. I’d recommend finding anyone else to make your holster for you, mine was a piece of junk that I’ll now have to throw out as a total waste of money. They don’t care at all about their customers or customer satisfaction, BEWARE BEWARE BEWARE!!!!
This is the BBB complaint that is on file and they ignored; Before I ordered from you I had done research and watched several different holster makers make light bearings holsters with the light in the further out position, further away from the trigger guard, that way it could be moved back and forth a bit depending on the customers preference. If your telling me you are unable to make a holster in any other positioning than universal 2 key thats a major problem for me, I can’t properly use the firearm with the light in that position even with bare hands and that will be impossible for me in the winter with any kind of gloves on. I’ve honestly been as patient as I can possibly be with this whole situation but it’s been over three months now and all I have to show for all of this time is a piece of kydex I can not use and a headache. At this point I’m really tired of all of this and really only have three options, 1st is if you guys can make a holster that fits correctly with the universal 1 key, 2nd you tell me you can’t do that and I send it back for a full refund, 3rd I really don’t want to have to talk about the whole Better Business Bureau route and writing reviews about how bad this whole experience has been and referencing the BBB # so others can see if or how you have responded to the problem. Please let me know as soon as possible, I have a local shop that does custom holsters but at the time I choose to go with you guys because I thought it would be easier sadly.

So as we know, RA has been found guilty on all counts. However, we now have a lot more information than we had before trial and it has been blatantly obvious that LE lied in the PCA in order to arrest RA in the first place.
We know there were 4 girls and not 3. Man did LE go had on the 3 girl edit. They had to in order to make it match to what he told them. The state reasoned that the 4th girl was under age so what? She doesn’t count as a person? LIE.
We know that the witness did not say bloody in her first few interviews with LE. It was all muddy muddy muddy. She also saw a group of people..including a girl that looked upset? LIES and omissions.
The one I’ve been harping on- “one of the girls mentions a gun and a man can be SEEN and HEARD telling the girls, guys, down the hill.” This one pisses me off to no end. That whole video was a lie to the public and a complete lie in the PCA. LIE. Lying liars who lie.
RA placed himself on the bridge wearing exactly the same clothes as BG, at the time that the girls went missing. Well we know this is a lie and it’s in the recording. LIES.
The bullet match- junk science. Easy enough to prove.
There are more lies in the PCA. I was under the impression that if it’s proven that the state lied in a PCA and someone is convicted, the conviction would be overturned. How is this not happening right now? RA would not have been arrested if they didn’t lie in the PCA. It’s been proven that the key evidence in the PCA is false. This judge wouldn’t allow the hearing to see the evidence but now she knows. She’s seen it with her own eyes. Now she’s complicit in the lies.
We are all talking about RA getting another trial but why is there not much talk about the conviction being overturned due to the PCA being a bunch of made up shit that was used to unlawfully arrest an innocent man? It seems clear as day. They had no evidence so they created it out of thin air. RA said, in the only real evidence they had..the video of his “questioning,” that he left by 1:30. He saw 3 girls while he was there. He said one girl was older than the other two. Likely a babysitter. He did not describe the 4 girls that say they saw BG and not one of those girls said that RA is the person they saw. How is this still holding up and why can’t it be overturned? How can judge Gull be allowed to preside over this case when she is complicit in the lies? Can the defense bring the case to a higher court and get the conviction overturned? From what I’ve read about it, yes. Not only that, the liars should be prosecuted. The judge and prosecutor have immunity but LE doesn’t.
Annan Syed was released from prison due to an investigator writing down a note on a piece of paper that may have mentioned another possible suspect. It was a Brady violation apparently and it was enough for him to get out of jail.
In this case we have actual confessions that were ignored. Judge knew full well that they exist. How is that not enough?
I’m confused and pissed off. Please tell me there is a chance that this entire thing can be overturned with no need for another trial. I’ve long since given up trying to figure out why this judge is allowing this to happen. What matters most is that RA is innocent and he needs to get out because it’s unlikely he will be able to handle this for much longer. Someone with the authority to do so needs to stand the hell up and make it known that this shit will not be tolerated. It is not what our system of justice is based on and if it stands, it will just continue until all of our rights are gone completely.
