An ongoing investigation into the death of Vanda Castorani, the 75-year-old Roman pensioner who died last Friday in the fire at her villa in Olbia.
The Carabinieri interviewed the elderly woman’s daughter, the person who cared for the victim . Investigators are reconstructing the pensioner’s habits and the methods of care.
Vanda Castorani, after a stroke, was no longer able to move on her own. Her body, charred, was found in the bed with a pressure mattress. The pensioner was a heavy smoker and it is not excluded that a lit cigarette ended up on the bed.
In the next few hours, in Sassari, the autopsy will be performed. The Prosecutor’s Office has chosen the coroner Angela Seddaiu for the investigations. The consultant will have to establish the manner, cause and time of death and verify whether there are signs of violence on the victim’s body.
Vanda Castorani’s daughter is giving full cooperation to the investigators, to understand what may have happened last Friday she has appointed as her lawyer the lawyer Giampaolo Murrighile, who has given the task to his consultant, the coroner Francesco Serra, to participate in the autopsy. The investigations are against unknown persons.
